Playing Pitch Strategies
Ashley Godfrey was the Project Leader for the development of Sport England’s assessment guidance and toolkit ‘Towards a Level Playing Field’. Since its publication in 2003 this tried and tested, rigorous methodology has been employed across the country in the preparation of Playing Pitch Strategies, and is now the recognised approach to quality and quantity appraisal.
The robustness of a playing pitch strategy depends on the quality and detail of information about usage and demand for sports pitches from football, cricket, rugby and hockey teams – which can be notoriously difficult to secure. Our surveys in this area consistently achieve response rates in excess of 90%, a far higher rate of return than most other consultancies in the field.
Ashley Godfrey Associates also undertakes detailed audits and quality assessments of sports pitches, using criteria developed from the Performance Quality Standard (PQS) and adapted for our demanding standards of work.
In addition to pitch sports, our strategies cover all other outdoor sports including bowls and tennis, and we have also completed assessments of indoor facilities.
